WAYS TO IMPROVE MY ENGLISH

As all of us know English is a very important subject, not only for passing the SPM examination or the GCE `O` Level examination but also as a language for communication. If you are able to speak English fluently that means you will be able to communicate with a lot of people from different places. It will also be more convenient for you when you use the computer, surfing the internet or attending an interview.
  Since English is a language which brings many benefits, how can I improve myself in the language? First of all, I must do a lot of reading because reading can enrich my vocabulary. I love to read anything that captures my interest such as comics, reference books, Reader's Digest, magazines and newspapers. At the same time, I too can widen my knowledge. Among all, newspaper is the cheapest reading material and it brings me around the world everyday and lets me know the current issues.
  Secondly, if you were a choir member like me, you would choose to learn more English songs too. Actually learning English through singing is a good and fun way. We have patriotic songs in English version, nursery rhymes, folk songs and even pop songs - Westlife, if you like. You will never get bored because you will gain a lot of knowledge and entertainment at once. It also helps to reduce stress.
  Writing is also a way of improving my English.  I will try to avoid using other languages to write short messages, articles and my personal diary. Whenever I am free, I will write to my former teachers and English-In-Camp members. They will correct the mistakes I have made especially the grammatical errors. Besides that, this is a good way for me to keep in touch with them.
  Last but not least, I must try to speak in the language. Only through this can I be aware of my mistakes and at the same time, my teacher can guide and correct me in my oral skills. In order to polish my English, I am active in all sorts of competitions organized by the Ministry of Education. For example, the English Drama Competition, English-In-Camp, Choral Speaking and debates.
  In conclusion, when there is a will, there is a way. There are endless ways to improve my English and the most important thing is my interest, determination and hard work. I must never give up just because of set backs because practice makes perfect.
